T-Rex Reading CSLP

My dinosaur adventure began one morning when I woke up. My mom was making breakfast. I went outside to play and saw a dinosaur in my yard! He was a red t-rex and he had sunglasses on. He was dressed up in a goofy outfit — it was a clown outfit. He was sticking his tongue out and licking some trees. Then he did some cartwheels. He was swinging on my swings on his belly.

It was fun until he started stomping on all the flowers. My mom was angry! She told him to stop and to leave. I went over to him and said, “You’d better not come back.”

“I’ll leave,” he said, “but someday I’ll be back to play in your sandbox. See you later.”

The next morning when I got up, I looked to see if the dinosaur was there. There he was, playing in my sandbox. I told him to leave and not come back. I said, “No more sandbox, no more licking the trees, no more cartwheels, or swinging.”

He asked why in a small voice. I said he was making my mom mad. He said, “Fine, I’ll go home.” I told him I was sorry, but my yard just isn’t big enough for a t-rex.

Pterodactyl Reading CSLP

My dinosaur adventure began one morning when a dinosaur appeared in my front yard. I felt very scared, but also very excited because it was sitting in my front maple tree. I wondered how they got into the tree, but then I saw the wings expand and I just had to meet this dinosaur. I scattered down the hall to put on my shoes. I tip-toed outside and around the corner to find the dino looking straight at me. I built up the courage to say “hi.”

The pterodactyl replied, “Hi, my name is Tessa. It’s nice to meet you.”

Tessa asked if I could help her because she was lost and as a baby pterodactyl, she wanted to find her parents. I asked, “How did you get here in the first place.”

Tessa said, “I traveled back in time, but it was a mistake. I was not supposed to. Before I ended up here, my brother and I were playing and he accidentally pushed me down the wormhole that mom and dad had warned us about.”

“Yes, I can most definitely try to help you,” I replied. “First, where do you remember you first appeared when getting out of the wormhole?”

Tessa says, “Right in your backyard near your swing set. I then decided to explore the outside of this house. I walked to the front yard, climbed up this tree, and now I am not sure I can get down because I haven’t learned how to fly yet.”

To help Tessa down the tree, I encouraged her to be able to fly just like a mom would do. I told her to believe she could do it and to flap her awesome wings. After a couple tries, she made it safely down the tree and was very excited and proud of herself. I told her, “Great job, Tessa! Let’s go inside and get you warmed up.”

After going inside, when my parents weren’t looking, I got some food for her and put her in a blanket. I took her to my room, shut the door, and locked it. We then spent time together talking and I asked, “How long have you been up in that tree?”

She replied, “I think about three days ago.”

We decided to leave my room and tell my mom about her. My mom was shocked and said Tessa really needs to get back to her family. So I asked my mom if she could help us get Tessa home after Tessa and I had a playdate. Tessa was a great friend. Tessa asked if we had a computer, which we did. So she said, “Tonight I know what to do. We will use the computer to find the right star that will lead me home and we will take a picture. Once we locate the right star, in the morning, we will go to where we took the picture, and there will be rays of sun leading to the wormhole.”

Right before going to sleep, we heard a surprising THUD. We looked outside and there was nothing in the front yard, we looked on the roof and there was nothing, and then we finally went to the backyard and saw two moving things. It was too dark for me to see, so I ran back into the house to grab a flashlight. As soon as I turned the flashlight on, I could not believe my eyes. There were two adult pterodactyls. Tessa ran up to them and said, “Hey, mom and dad, you found me! Meet my new friend who was trying to help me get home. She rescued me and I am very happy that we found you.” Then Tessa flew up to her mom’s ear and whispered something that I didn’t hear.

Her mom whispered back into her ear, saying, “We will haveto see if it’s okay with her parents.”

Tessa asked if she could ask my parents a question and then walked up to my mom and said, “It was nice visiting, and nice to stay, but if I go back I can’t come back. Could I stay with you?”

My mom said, “Well, sure, you can stay, but you’ll have to sleep with her as we don’t have extra beds.”

Tessa walked up to me and said, “Your mom allows me to stay with you.”

My heart filled with excitement and I said, “Hurray!” I took her back into my house and taught her everything that I knew.

Triceratops Reading CSLP

My dinosaur adventure becan one morning when I woke up and heard a big “ROAR!” Then, I looked out of my bedroom window and saw a dinosaur. It was a pterodactyl. I ran downstairs in a hurry. I went outside.

The pterodactyl had big wings. One of it’s wings was injured. The pterodactyl was purple and it was tall. It had large teeth, blue eyes, and a little purple hair on top of it’s head. It was very hungry. It’s stomach was growling.

I went inside to get a Band-Aid and a can of tuna fish. I went back outside to help the dinosaur. I was glad to be able to help an injured and hungry dinosaur. I approached the dinosaur slowly and said, “It is going to be okay. I am going to help you feel better.”

The pterodactyl let out another big “ROAR!” It was a, “Thank you ROAR.”

I placed the can of tuna fish in front of the pterodactyl. While the dinosaur was eating the can of tuna fish, I placed a Band-Aid on it’s wing. The dinosaur was so happy because I fed it and helped it’s wing feel better.

To show it’s appreciation, the pterodactyl nodded for me to get on it’s back. I said, “What are you doing? Do you want me to ride on your back?”

The dinosaur “ROARED” and nodded it’s head yes.

I climbed onto the pterodactyl’s back. It started to fly up into the sky and soar. I saw many neat things up there. I saw an airplane, a helicopter, and even my house. When we landed in my yard, I gave the dinosaur a big hug. The pterodactyl wanted to stay with me. I decided that would be alright. We had many more adventures together since that day.
