Lydia’s Adventures by Lydia DeVries

Meet the Author:

Lydia DeVries is 6 years old. She is homeschooled. Her favorite thing to do is play with Nova, her stuffed animal. Lydia’s favorite book is One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish by Dr. Seuss. Her favorite animal is a seahorse.

My painting portal journey began when I was at my friend Olivia’s house. She had just finished making a picture of a rainbow. I was looking at her painting when suddenly a cloud came and carried me off. It took me to the Antarctic. And then it was cold, but luckily, I had warm clothes. I saw three penguins with yellow cheeks and chin. I wanted to play with the penguins in the water but the persons who owned the penguins said it was too cold for people to play in with the penguins. But they said that I could throw some fish. Then all of the penguins came running to get the fish. And then the same cloud came back and picked me up again. This time it took me to Australia and I hopped with the brown kangaroos for a while. Then the cloud picked me up again and took me to the aquarium. I went to the dolphin cage and I saw that it had yellow spots on it. And I saw two baby dolphins and they had purple spots. When they grow up, they will have yellow spots. And then I went to the clownfish and I saw its white and orange stripes. I saw it had two babies and they were just like their mom only with smaller stripes. I went to see a dolphin show. They jumped up high and they did a lot of tricks. When I walked out, I saw the flamingo’s cage. Four flamingos were eating their favorite food. And as they ate, they turned their feathers pink. And then the cloud came and carried me back to Olivia’s house. And then I went to bed.

The Adventures in Starry Starry Night by Matthew McElhaney

Meet the Author:

Matthew McElhaney is 8 years old. He attends St. Joseph Catholic School. His favorite thing to do is play outside. Penguins are Matthew’s favorite animal.

My painting portal journey began when I jumped into Vincent VanGogh’s Starry Night painting. I am excited to start my adventures in Starry Starry Night.

The first path in my journey is to climb up the mountain. When I am on top of the mountain, I see bright stars shining on me. The second path in my journey is to take a ride on the clouds in the sky and stand on the cloud, then touch the bright and shiny stars. The last path of my journey is to go around town shopping for a favorite toy. A favorite toy that I am looking for is a LEGO farm set.

The adventures in the painting were amazing. I was able to climb, ride the clouds, and go shopping. The is my story about Starry Starry Night and my adventure into the painting.

The Portal by Addison Long

Addison Long is 10 years old. She attends Beaty Warren Middle School. Her favorite thing to do is read. She enjoys the I Survived and Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series. Dogs and pandas are Addison’s favorite animals.

My painting portal journey began when my mom and I went to an art show. At first, I thought it was boring, but after a while I found it worldly. My mom said we go to art shows because you can find something that can really inspire you. But this was different; it was like it was speaking to me. Then BOOM, a flash of light came over me. When I could see again, I was in an entirely new world that looked like the painting. Then there was a bush, and it began to shake. I walked close to the bush and looked down. There was a little dog!

Instantly the dog jumped up into a girl’s arms. After that I heard a girl call for the dog. Around the corner, the girl came and introduced herself. “Hi, I’m Maddy, can I have my dog back?”

“Yes, by the way, my name is Roran.”

“Hey, do you want to play with me?”

“Sure, let’s play tag” and I watched them play. I had to say “Goodbye, I must go; my mom is looking for me” but I had plans to go back.

When I arrived back to the spot I left, I said, “Hi Mom, can we come back tomorrow?”

“Sure, I’m guessing you found something you like.”

“Yep, you could say that.”

The next day, “MOM, are you ready to go to the art show?”

“OK, OK we can go.”

From that day on I visited the dog and new friends every day.
